Fleetwood's demise as a ferry port has been long predicted by industry spectators. On 24th December 2010, Stena Line's Fleetwood - Larne ferry service ended after 35 years (under various ownership) and the ships laid up in Belfast. The three ships in question Stena Pioneer, Stena Leader and Stena Seafarer have all used fleetwood as homeport for a substantial part of their career with only very infrequent visits to the port by other ships.
I took a trip to fleetwood on 28th December 2010 to witness for myself the now redundant ferry port before the inevitable decay and weeds took over the site - It was to say the least a depressing site, captured in black and white.
